Block 1 (12:30 - 1:10pm)3rd - 5th Grade Summer Plus ElectivesPlease select 1 Elective for this Block. Jewelry and Beading Create stunning jewelry pieces using beads, wire, and other materials. This class teaches design techniques while allowing students to craft wearable art. Intro to Team Sports Introduce students to a variety of team sports in this active elective. They'll learn the basic rules and skills for sports like soccer, basketball, volleyball, and more. The focus will be on teamwork, sportsmanship, and enjoying physical activity rather than competition. Lego Robotics and Knex Builders: Lego Robotics & K’NEX Builders is a combined, hands-on engineering and design course where students use LEGO® robotics twice a week and K’NEX building sets on the other three days to explore how things move and work. In this class, students work in teams to design, build, and program robots using LEGO® Education kits while also constructing creative structures and machines with K’NEX, building skills in coding, problem-solving, physics, and teamwork as they tackle fun challenges and bring their ideas to life. Lego Robotics is being run by an outside provider; Snapology of Livingston NJ. Possible courses include: RoboPets, Mega Machines, Attackbots, and Space Wars. Click here to learn more about Snapology. Intro to Cooking: Intro to Cooking is a hands-on elective for 3rd–5th graders that introduces basic kitchen skills, safety, and healthy habits. Students learn how to read simple recipes, measure ingredients, and use common tools as they prepare kid-friendly snacks and dishes in small groups, building confidence, teamwork, and independence in the kitchen. Students who choose this course do not need to select a second-block elective. Please choose one class for the block. Mixed Media Obstacle Course Challenge Robotics Cooking Around the World This is a creative art elective for 5th–7th graders where students explore a wide variety of materials and techniques to make unique, personal artwork. In this hands-on class, students experiment with 3D design projects like duct tape wallets, learn the basics of crochet through small creations, and design and print their own custom t-shirts while also exploring mixed media approaches such as painting, collage, and sculpture to see how different materials can be combined in expressive and imaginative waysGet creative with fitness in this exciting PE elective! Students will work in teams to design, build, and navigate obstacle courses using various equipment. They'll develop physical skills like balance and coordination while also honing problem-solving and teamwork abilities.Introduce students to the exciting world of robotics! They'll learn about basic programming concepts, sensors, and mechanical systems while building and programming simple robots. This hands-on elective encourages problem-solving, teamwork, and creativity in a tech-focused environment.Cooking Around the World is a hands-on elective for 6th–8th graders that explores global cuisines while building essential kitchen skills, food safety, and cultural understanding. Students prepare dishes inspired by different countries and regions, practice techniques like chopping, sautéing, and seasoning, and discuss food traditions and ingredients from around the world. Block 2 (1:15 - 1:55pm)3rd - 5th Grade Summer Plus ElectivesPlease select 1 Elective for this Block. Color Splash Studio All Star Sports: Hockey, Golf, and Baseball iMovie Basics Intro to Cooking Continued Experiment with different kinds of painting, including watercolor, tempera or poster paints, simple acrylic on canvas board, and fun techniques like crayon- or oil-pastel resist and mixed media that combines paint with drawing or collage. Along the way, campers will build confidence and creativity as they explore color, texture, and their own artistic style while bringing vibrant, one-of-a-kind artworks to life.Campers will get moving and build skills as they rotate through floor hockey, golf, and baseball in this high-energy multi-sport elective. Each week, they practice age-appropriate skills like aiming and striking, passing and teamwork, and throwing, catching, and hitting through fun drills and small-sided games, helping them grow in confidence, sportsmanship, and a lifelong love of being active.Lights, camera, action! Students will learn to create and edit short films using iMovie. They'll explore storytelling through video, basic editing techniques, and how to add music and special effects to their creations. Students will start the elective with making a movie trailer and build their skills each week to create a complete movie. Photography Outdoor Sports Intro to Coding Cooking 5 Ingredients or Less Snap into the world of photography! Students will learn about composition, lighting, and basic photo editing techniques. Using digital cameras or smartphones, they'll capture images around the school, create photo stories, and develop an eye for visual storytelling. Students will work all summer to build and create a Summer Plus yearbook for all campers to enjoy.Experience a variety of outdoor sports and fitness challenges in this energetic elective for active students. Campers build endurance, strength, and coordination through obstacle courses, group exercises, and popular field games while learning rules, basic skills, teamwork, and good sportsmanship in a fun, supportive environment.Explore the world of digital storytelling using computer science! Students will learn to create interactive stories, animations, and games while developing coding skills and unleashing their creativity.Cooking with 5 Ingredients or Less is a creative cooking elective for 3rd–5th graders that shows how simple, healthy recipes can be made with just a few ingredients. Students prepare easy breakfasts, snacks, and dinners using five ingredients or fewer while practicing measuring, mixing, and kitchen safety, and they explore substitutions, meal planning, and trying new flavors to gain confidence helping with real cooking at home. Spotlight Showcase w/LFTs Tennis iMovies Desserts and Baking Campers explore both drama and music as they work toward a final talent show performance in week five. Students experiment with acting, improvisation, and basic stagecraft while also learning about rhythm, vocals, and simple accompaniment, then collaborate to create group acts or individual pieces, building confidence, teamwork, and stage presence as they prepare to share their talents with the camp community. Sharpen your tennis skills or learn the basics of this lifelong sport. Students will practice techniques like serving, volleying, and scoring in a fun environment.Lights, camera, action! Students will learn to create and edit short films using iMovie.
