Welcome to the Morris School District Sunrise/Sunset Childcare Programs

The Sunrise and Sunset programs are operated by the Morris School District Community School and are designed for children attending the district’s elementary schools. Programs are available for children from Pre-K through 5th grade, without regard to race, color, sex, religion, national origin, or disabilities, on a first-come, first-served basis.

• Sunrise (Before School, K–5 only): Offered at three “sister” schools.
• Sunset (After School): Available at all seven elementary schools and the Lafayette Learning Center.
• Programs include a snack, homework assistance, physical activity, and STEAM projects.
• We strive to create a welcoming, supportive environment for all students and families.

🗓 Registration Information

Monthly Open Registration

• Sunrise and Sunset registration will open during the first week of June 2026 and remain available through August 14, 2026. Registration will temporarily close from August 15 to September 14 while we prepare for the start of the school year. After September 14, enrollment will reopen for new participants.

Early Dismissal Days

On early dismissal days, all sites will offer extended Sunset care from school dismissal until the program’s regular closing time. Families do not need to register in advance if their child will attend according to their regular schedule. Please note that an additional $20 fee for half days will be applied to your bill based on your child’s attendance.

If your child needs to attend on an early dismissal day that is not part of their regular schedule, you can request a drop-in day through your ARUX account for a $25 fee. Please note that drop-in requests are based on availability and staffing ratios. You’ll receive an email once your request has been reviewed and approved.

Tuition & Financial Assistance
Sunrise and Sunset are fee-based programs, and tuition is required to participate. We also accept subsidy payments through Child and Family Resources (CFR) and Child Care Aware.

For help with registration or questions, please contact the Community School Office — we’re here to assist you every step of the way.

You will need to enroll your child twice, if you need both Sunrise and Sunset. You must select the correct Sunrise school for your child. Please see the chart below.  You will then enroll your child at their home school for Sunset.

Monthly Tuition Rates

The monthly tuition rate is based on the number of days your child is scheduled to attend each week. This rate remains the same regardless of attendance, as it reserves your child’s spot in the program on their scheduled days.

Drop-In Days

The drop-in rate for both the Sunrise and Sunset programs is $25 per day. All drop-in requests must be submitted for approval in advance, and your child may only attend once you have received a confirmation.

Please note that "Pick Your Days" is only available to Morris School District (MSD) Staff. If you are not an MSD staff member and choose this option, your pending contract will be deleted and you will need to re-register your child(ren).

Please make sure your register your child for a Consistent Schedule if you are not a MSD Staff member. 

There is a non refundable registration fee of $25 per child, which will not exceed $50 per family (Please contact your subsidy case manager to see if this fee if covered by your contract). This registration fee will be charged when your submitted application for enrollment is accepted. The Community School will send an invoice to families on the First day of the month for that month of care.
