Mixed Media Obstacle Course Challenge Robotics Cooking Around the World This is a creative art elective for 5th–7th graders where students explore a wide variety of materials and techniques to make unique, personal artwork. In this hands-on class, students experiment with 3D design projects like duct tape wallets, learn the basics of crochet through small creations, and design and print their own custom t-shirts while also exploring mixed media approaches such as painting, collage, and sculpture to see how different materials can be combined in expressive and imaginative waysGet creative with fitness in this exciting PE elective! Students will work in teams to design, build, and navigate obstacle courses using various equipment. They'll develop physical skills like balance and coordination while also honing problem-solving and teamwork abilities.Introduce students to the exciting world of robotics! They'll learn about basic programming concepts, sensors, and mechanical systems while building and programming simple robots. This hands-on elective encourages problem-solving, teamwork, and creativity in a tech-focused environment.Cooking Around the World is a hands-on elective for 6th–8th graders that explores global cuisines while building essential kitchen skills, food safety, and cultural understanding. Students prepare dishes inspired by different countries and regions, practice techniques like chopping, sautéing, and seasoning, and discuss food traditions and ingredients from around the world. Students who choose this course do not need to select a second-block elective. Please choose one class for the block. If insufficient enrollment occurs for an elective, the Morris School District reserves the right to modify or cancel the course. Families will be promptly notified of any changes to their child's selected elective.
  • Block 2 (1:15pm - 1:55pm)

    Please select 1 Elective for this Block. Jewelry Creations Basketball Intro to Coding Cooking Around the World Continued Design and create your own wearable art! Students will learn various beading and jewelry-making techniques, exploring color combinations and patterns to make unique accessories. Dribble, shoot, and score in this exciting basketball class! Students will learn fundamental skills, game strategies, and teamwork while having fun on the court. Build a strong foundation in coding and app creation in a fun, beginner-friendly class. Students learn the basics of programming through interactive projects, creating simple games and animations while developing logical thinking and problem-solving skills, then use accessible platforms to brainstorm, design, and prototype their own app ideas, exploring how the apps they use every day are created and how effective user interfaces are planned This is the second block for campers that registered for Cooking Around the World in Block 1. Please choose one class for the block. If insufficient enrollment occurs for an elective, the Morris School District reserves the right to modify or cancel the course.   • Block 3 (2:00pm - 2:40pm)

    Please select 1 Elective for this Block. Spotlight Showcase w/LFTs Tennis iMovies Desserts and Baking Campers explore both drama and music as they work toward a final talent show performance in week five. Students experiment with acting, improvisation, and basic stagecraft while also learning about rhythm, vocals, and simple accompaniment, then collaborate to create group acts or individual pieces, building confidence, teamwork, and stage presence as they prepare to share their talents with the camp community. ​Sharpen your tennis skills or learn the basics of this lifelong sport. Students will practice techniques like serving, volleying, and scoring in a fun environment.Lights, camera, action! Students will learn to create and edit short films using iMovie. They'll explore storytelling through video, basic editing techniques, and how to add music and special effects to their creations.Baking and Desserts focuses on the science and art of baking while reinforcing careful measurement, following multi-step recipes, and kitchen safety. Students make items such as cookies, cakes, quick breads, and simple pastries, learning about ingredients, oven use, and presentation while practicing patience and attention to detail. ​ Students who choose this course do not need to select a 4th-block elective.     Please select 1 Elective for this Block. Comic & Sketch Studio Co-Op Games Game Design Desserts and Baking cont.... Turn your ideas into eye-catching art on the page. Campers practice all kinds of drawing—characters, settings, objects, and expressive faces—while learning how to plan panels, develop stories, and combine sketching, inking, and simple comic techniques to create their own illustrated scenes and mini-comics that showcase both imagination and drawing skills.Foster teamwork and communication through cooperative games and challenges. Students will engage in non-competitive activities that promote collaboration, problem-solving, and social skills.Learn how to create your own video or board games! This class introduces students to the basics of game mechanics, storytelling, and design principles.This is the second block for campers that registered for Desserts and Baking in Block 3.
