Session 2 is a continuation of Session 1 but it is not a requirement. You are welcome to attend both sessions or just 1.Joseph Stella became involved with the Futurist movement in his native Italy while also learning about other forms of European Modernism. Having moved to America, he made paintings that captured the dynamism of modern life in the early twentieth century. At the same time, the Russian-born artist Max Weber was also introducing European Cubism and Futurism to American viewers. This class will focus on the similarities and differences in their works and careers, and assess their importance in the development of American Modernism.
