Charles Willson Peale: Artist, Inventor, Patriot in the Early United States
An outstanding example of ingenuity and drive, Charles Willson Peale was an artist, scientist, inventor, patriot, and military officer during the colonial era, the American Revolution, and the early decades of the United States. This class will present his major works of art, including his portraits of George Washington and other founding fathers, and his archaeological and naturalist investigations, which included taxidermy! He was also the father and grandfather of a dynasty of artists, some of whose works will be included.
