Crack the Code of Mah Jongg
Have you ever wondered what’s behind the "clink-clack" of those beautiful tiles and the mysterious talk of "Quints" and "Dragons"? If you’re ready to move from curious bystander to confident player, this low-pressure, high-fun, introductory Mah Jongg class is for you. We’ll demystify the 152-tile set—including why a "Crak" is a good thing—and guide you through the official National Mah Jongg League (NMJL) rules. From building your first "wall" to mastering the legendary Charleston tile swap to yelling "Mah Jong!" we’ll take it slow and keep the atmosphere lively.
Forget the intimidating speed of the pros; this class is all about learning the game through social, hands-on play. You’ll learn to decipher the annual NMJL card (it’s not actually a secret code!) and develop the basic strategies needed to call for tiles and chase a winning hand. By the final session, you’ll have the skills to join a local game or start your own group. Whether you’re looking to sharpen your memory or just find a great excuse for snacks and conversation, come find out why Mah Jongg is the ultimate social hobby.
